This is Greg Johnson with his ingenious marimba resonator box that he used to find the optimal resonator depth for each pitch on the marimbas he built. He would place the key on top and lower the box into the pool slowly while hitting the key to find the depths with the best resonant sound. He marked the range on the side of the box and then tried to fit it to a scientific theory. Cool!
