This is Barney's ingenious device for removing feathers without the tedium of hand-plucking or holding the chicken to a rotating drum studded with doorstops. This thing is brilliant. The bottom spins, the chicken tumbles about, and little jets of water wash away the feathers as they are pulled off. As long as the chicken has been scalded correctly (one minute at 145-150 degrees), all that remains to be removed by hand are a few on the wings and hind end.
