New Large Sculpture  -  Every mother thinks their child is the most beautiful until they see their class pictures. Such is almost the case here. Unfortunately, I'm horrible at taking pictures of my own sculptures. They always appear much more flat then they are in real life (I always build sculptures that can be experienced 'in the round'- From every angle). I'm limited in terms of pictures by the dimensions of my small apartment, though. In the future I hope to shoot this one from off-angles and in natural lighting (I also suspect that the fact that I'm usually drunk when I finish a scultpture ads to the diminishment of how they are photographed).

As for the sculpture itself, I actually began this one around May. The basic structure was finished around late June. There were several months, though, where I didn't work on it at all. When I came back to it I intended to coat the entire thing in a surface made out of colored sand and glue. Though this worked as a strong coating at a smaller scale it didn't pan out at a larger one (This sculpture is about 6ft in height). I decided to leave the frame bare (withouit glass or metal plating) and finish it as is.

Though it might seem odd, the aspect of this sculpture that I am most proud of is the fact that it is solidly freestanding even though most of its mass leans past the centerline of its base... even without ground tension. This one needs to be walked around in person.
