Design Study: King  -  Actually, this isn't a study. It's a drawing of the design for the sculpture I'm currently working on. I initially drew a series of sketches to work out the form (shown earlier) and then, once work started, decided to simplify things for the sake of structural integrity. This was a pretty big turning point in the design, because instead of becoming some sprawling, disorganized thing, the sculpture became stronger in both aesthetics and integrity (which fits in with my notion that every part of a sculpture should 'emerge' out of a purpose that is both functional and aesthetic at the same time). Anyways, I drew this up really as a record of what was already in my head and inserted it into the design naming sequence.
